The YJM opened in September, 2013, thanks to support provided by the Yamanashi jewelry industry. Its mission includes spreading information about Yamanashi as a rare and precious jewelry producing area to the wider world and serving as a locus for joint public-private efforts to promote new local industries.
In April, 2014, members of the local jewelry industry donated some 50 works making use of Yamanashi technologies and designs to the museum. We are showing those works in a series of two exhibitions.
In the first of those exhibitions, using the image of a Jewelled Garden, we exhibit a selection of those works, jewelry that is delightful to wear and brings joy, perfect for the spring to early summer exhibition period.
